As of yesterday, May 30th, this boy is measuring 7 lb. 12 oz. according to sonogram. I don't think anyone who has seen my belly develop would think this unusual. I've measured large all along. So, now is the time for action. It's time for you all to pass down your secrets and traditions of inducing labor. We have until the 15th when the doctor has already voiced that she will push for induction if he hasn't arrived. This weekend, I'm going to finish up my "to-do" lists and then put full concentration into having this baby come Sunday, June 3rd. Awaiting your suggestions.... ~ Sharon

We had the exceedingly spicy relleno at Las Colinas (Mesa and Spicewood Springs) and labor was on within hours. Although, I suppose we also went to see the Chronic-what!-cles of Narnia, so maybe you just need to watch that movie and it will happen. I'd go with yummy food.
Glad to see the blog - I'll be watching!

I have heard that the following can help induce labor:
spicy food
walking
sex
I personally went into labor when walking in my neighborhood.
Good luck!

I just got back from another month at the midwifery clinic in Indonesia.

Any physical activity is a good thing. Walk as much as your swolen little feet will let you. Get layed... and aim at a big O. Belly dancing has also been used to help move labor along. Big swaying of the hips with your knees bent out a bit. The whole standing and then squatting and then back to standing is a good one to help the baby drop. Then there is more sex, more walking.

Oh and if you know a REALLY REALLY GOOD (ie they need a wealth of experience in treating women that are pregnant and laboring.) Acupuncturist. I saw a woman that was 2 weeks past due with zero hint of having this baby any time soon. Dr. Soma (who is a midwife, DN, L.Ac, and Homeopath) stuck two needles in. Within 5 seconds the woman's belly had a HUGE contraction and she became really emotional - total release was the only way I could describe it. Anyway, labor began that day and the baby was born that night. I asked what those points were, but Dr. Soma said it isn't just the points... it is the points relative to that person and her condition. Case-by-case basis, but it was amazing.

So there. Move. Move. and Move somemore. If you are on bedrest, well... I'm not sure what to tell ya'. Oh but a big one... make sure you are getting enough water.

Oh my, I feel your pain. I really didn't want to be induced, but as I think you know , my water broke 2 hours before we were suppose to go to the hospital. I think I was finally resigned to being induced, so I relaxed, and labor came naturally!

I walked a marathon and a half, no baby. Spicy food, no baby. No way was I going to do the deed, I was too large. I've also heard a glass of red wine, and just relaxing. We'll say our prayers, because I know how uncomfortable you must be! Can't wait to meet him.

For some reason, my grandmother's old maxim is coming to mind..."A watched baby never boils..." or something like that. If he is born Monday, he will share a bday with my niece Sophia. So excited for ya'll...

Get new tires at CostCo.
Walk to Babysrus, while waiting on tires, to finish up last minute pre-labor shopping. Hit the mall to pay off bills and follow up with afternoon delight.

All of the above exhausting but VERY VERY satisfying.
